Homework
District Policy:
District policy and current research dictate about 10 minutes of homework per grade level each night, including time spent reading. Therefore, third graders should receive about 40 minutes per night. Homework should be reflective of what is being worked on in class. If your child is spending significantly longer than this on a consistent basis, please discuss the situation with your teacher.
Weekly Homework:
1. Read for twenty minutes per night for a total of 80 minutes per week
and record minutes on the HRL (Homework Reading Log).
2. Read aloud Fluency Reads three times per week and record each time.
3. Study Spelling Words http://www.spellingcity.com/chve3/
4. The HRL, fluency read, and spelling words are handed out on Friday.
5. Turn in the HRL at the end of each week.

2. Study math facts: review addition and subtraction, learn multiplication and division as assigned. (3.5 seconds per fact)
3. Each student will be responsible to write down assignments in their student planner.
Planner:
All students should have a planner, which they will fill out daily and bring back and forth between school and home. They will organize their papers in a green Back and Forth folder: Papers to Stay Home and Return to School.
