What is a mystery reader?
Third Grade has a tradition of welcoming Mystery Readers into our classrooms. These readers are our moms, dads, grandparents, or older siblings (college age). They tell about their reading history: what they did or didn’t like as a youngster, what they're reading now, and which genres are their favorite. Then they read to the students: either a favorite picture book, their child's favorite bed time story, some poetry, or a chapter from a novel. The students love to hear these different voices in the room and ask them questions.
